Family not an excuse to pursuit a career/further education
May 21, 2009 by Abraham Kenneh

Mr. Abraham Kenneh, congratulate Mohamud Kromah for his academic success!

In the year 2007, when Mr. Mohamud Kromah served as one of the speakers during Vakaba Kouyateh graduation in Minnesota, he made a promised to himself and to the general audience that he will pursuit further education. He told the audience that the only excuse he had for peoples for not going to school was family issue but having seen Mr. Kouyateh graduating from college with the same family size, he was out of excuses and reasons but to enroll in college the next academic semester and that exactly what Mr. Kromah did and has now received a degree in Human Services in May 21, 2009 from Milwaukee Area Technical College - A complete promise fulfilled.

Mr. Kromah decision to major in Human Services did not come as a surprise to some of us who know him better. He has a long resume in helping others; He is an executive and one of the founding members of the Wisconsin Mandingo Association (WIMAM), he has always been in the fore front of the activities in our community. Back home in Africa, he volunteer with the Guinean Red Cross to distribute food and non food items among his fellow refugees. You will not be wrong to say, helping others is part of Mr. Kromah nature.

The community is very pride of Mr. Kromah academic achievement and it should be set as an example especially for we the parents. Let us stop pointing at family as an issues and pursuit a career. Career holders are pay higher and with higher pay you can work for less hours and spend more time with the very family in questions. What I have observed and learned from this very graduation, in pursuing a career/furthering education is more of make up your mind and commitment than family issues.

On behalf of my family and the larger Mandingo Community of Milwaukee, We say CONGRATULATION, Mr. Kromah. You are one of the banners and the roots of the our community, your academic success is our pride. We hope Mr. Kromah will use his experience and his degree in the Human Services to promote peace and the good image of our community and the entire Mandingo ethnic group in the Diaspora world.
