Monrovia — The President of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has clarified that former Public Works Minister, Lusine Donzo was not dismissed for financial malpractices as is been wildly speculated in the country.
Madam Sirleaf said former Public Works Minister Donzo is a honest man and trained engineer who worked very hard during his tenure of service at the Public Works Ministry.
She said former Minister Donzo’s major problem at the Public Works Ministry was purely a managerial issue, because, according to her, “the day to day operations at the ministry needed somebody with managerial skills.” The Liberian leader said former Minister Donzo was “slow man” in managing the affairs and activities of the Ministry of Public Works.
The Liberian President clarified that only a portion of the nine million United States dollars that sparked off concerns among lawmakers was used by Minister Donzo to repair roads that he, Donzo, is being accused of lavishly spending. She said all was not spent
Former Ministry Donzo is an Engineer versatile in his field of study. He was first appointed by the President as Deputy Minister, but due to the resignation of his former boss, Hon. Willie Knuckles, the President later appointed him as Minister of one of the largest ministries of government.
